Our History
Successful Starters Learning Academy (SSLA) opened in August 2005 inside of the Swiss Village on the Park Apartment complex located at 9603 Homestead Road Houston, Texas 77016. That location was closed in April 2011 due to the change of ownership of the apartments.
We were fortunate to move to our second location, 9118 Homestead Road, Houston, Texas 77016, which is just one block south of the first location. This is now our home office.
In February 2014, our home office was designated as an infant care center. Children ages two (2) years and older were moved to what is known as Day Care #2, which is at 10635 Homestead Road, #B, Houston, Texas 77016 (inside the Living Waters Community Church).
In the spring of 2019, the world was devastated by the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic. Due to economic reasons related to the pandemic, we were forced to combine the two locations.
Currently nested inside the Living Waters Community Church, our center’s primary focus is on early childhood literacy. Our play as your learning approach has shown positive results in setting a stable foundation for each of our student’s future.
Our Mission
Congratulations, you have chosen a Christian Early Childhood Program for your child. We are a part of the Texas Rising Star Program which offers resources for both staff and parents. We provide a safe and nurturing environment promoting the physical, social, emotional, intellectual and spiritual development of children while shown God’s love.
In this program you will see:
- Frequent, positive, warm interactions among adults and children.
- A variety of age appropriate learning activities.
- Specially trained teachers. *Ongoing systematic evaluations.

PARENT ORIENTATION IS REQUIRED. YOU WILL WATCH A 6 MINUTE VIDEO EXPLAINING OUR TEACHING TECHNIQUES. YOU WILL HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO WATCH A CLASS IN ACTION, SET UP THE REMIND APP (BE ADDED TO THE CLASS TO RECEIVE INFORMATION ON CLASS ACTIVITIES), RECEIVE OUR CONTACT E-MAIL, CELLULAR TELEPHONE NUMBERS, ETC.

Our CURRICULUM
Our centers use the Frog Street Curriculum. Our program sets its pace around the needs and unique differences of each child. Our program emphasizes hands on, developmentally appropriate play experiences. We recognize the uniqueness of each child and provide for individual experiences to help children reach their maximum potential.
With different activity centers available for music, dramatic play and the use of unstructured materials the child will participate and enjoy language experiences, develop fine motor skills and participate in physical activities.
We will conduct 3 milestone assessments (August, January and May).
